Business Continuity Plan

The heart of the influenza planning effort is the
Business Continuity Plan. Whether your
organization is a large, complex assembly of a
variety of departments, divisions, and operating
units or a small-scale group without well-defined
lines of separation, the focus of business
continuity planning is keeping it functioning when
threatened by pandemic-related interruptions. The
Business Continuity Plan addresses the
preparations necessary to respond to the effects
of a pandemic with the resources necessary to
continue to fulfill the mission of the organization.

A pandemic will place some significant
operational stresses on the organization.  Since
the effects of a pandemic are fundamentally
employee illness-related, plans must be
generated with a strong emphasis on prevention.
At the same time there is a need to plan for
abnormally high absenteeism rates, illnesses,
and, unfortunately, employee deaths.
