Pandemic Influenza Planning

After you have compiled the information necessary to write your
pandemic influenza plan, you must provide an appropriate level of
training to the rest of the people in your organization. That may be as
daunting a task as writing the plan in the first place.

GOOD NEWS - It has already been done for you!

A series of training programs utilizing the Microsoft® PowerPoint®
presentation graphics program has been created and is ready for
'out-of-the-box' use.

"But I don't have the Microsoft® PowerPoint® program
on my computer!"

You don't need to have the program to view the slides and present
them. The training CD includes PowerPoint® Viewer built in to each
program file.
Click on the training program you want to see and it
loads automatically
. You can't edit the slides or the training program,
and you can't view the notes slides, but you can project the slides on
the screen. With the variety of levels of training programs being
offered on one Compact Disk, you can present these programs just
as they are.

The book outlines a step-by-step process of creating an organization
to assemble a plan, followed by the presentation of several levels of
needs-based training. These training programs match the outline of
the book. You will find the training programs ready to present
'out-of-the-box'.

If you are familiar with the Microsoft® PowerPoint® program you
know that you can create speakers notes that accompany each slide.
The slides in the training package include speakers notes, many of
them being excerpts directly from the book. The speaker notes
emphasize and explain the key points of each slide. For the
presenter, it means that reading the book will be the best way to
prepare to present the training programs.

The training program development process is presented as a
four-level example in the book to accommodate four levels of training
needs. On this CD are four (4) levels of training programs that you
can present, depending on the level of training a particular group
needs to be prepared for a pandemic.

Those levels are:

Level 1 Training Program - This is basic information all of the
members of your organization need to understand and respond to
the pandemic threat. It includes information about influenza,
pandemics, and pandemic influenza. It includes infection control
strategies, your first line of defense against becoming infected with
the influenza virus.

Approximately 75 slides with speaker notes.

Level 2 Training Program - This program takes pandemic planning for
your members to the next level. It includes all of the slides and
information from the Level 1 training program and adds information
on Occupational Health. Occupational Health information is for
members of your organization whose responsibilities include
increased exposure to people carrying the influenza virus. This
relates primarily to healthcare workers but may include those whose
jobs require increased exposure to members of the public who are,
or may be, contagious.

Approximately 100 slides with speaker notes.

Level 3 Training Program - Level 3 training is aimed at members of
your organization who have responsibilities for creating or executing
portions of the pandemic influenza plan. For example, Business
Continuity plans are best developed by supervisors familiar with their
operations. It also includes responsibilities for the development of a
Communications Plan and addressing pandemic-related budget
issues.

Approximately 125 slides with speaker notes.

Level 4 Training Program - This presentation includes over 200
slides, most with detailed speaker notes based directly on the
content of the book. The material covered includes the entire outline
of the book from creating a pandemic planning committee to training,
public education, and exercising the plan. If it's in the book, it's in
Level 4 Training.

Approximately 225 slides with speaker notes.

Customized Training Program
- Any of the training programs can be
modified to fit the needs of your organization. You can do it yourself
with the PowerPoint® program, or contact us for information on how
we can help you create a customized program for your organization.

HOW MUCH IS YOUR TIME WORTH?

How long would it take you to create four PowerPoint®
presentations, each with 75 to 225 slides with speaker notes? If it's
worth anything you can't afford to do it yourself!

In addition to the 4 levels of PowerPoint© training programs, the
Training Program CD includes MS Word© files that include the
speakers notes for those customers who use PowerPoint© Viewer to
make their presentations. These files are editable to fit your particular
training needs and speaking styles, or they can be used as written.
Open the files, make the changes you want, and print them to
complete your custom training program.

The CD includes, free, in PDF format, the full text of the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services Pandemic Influenza Plan:
Part 1, Strategic Plan and Part 2, Public Health Guidance for State and
Local Governments. No internet connection is needed to access or
print these documents from your computer.
